Memories shared

Elissa shares....

I have spent a lot of these holidays cleaning the house, repacking, de-cluttering and a good deep clean. In my cleaning travels I have come across several items from my childhood that were used as decorations. I had saved to one day give to the kids. That day has arrived. I have photographed in case they don't last in one piece in their rooms. Also to try and give a bit of the History behind each one (and when not correct my mum can fill me in). It appears at the same time last year I shared my childhood Lego with them so it obviously is a habit for this time of the year.

Jayde got two parts of a 3 part set I received on my 12th birthday. It is a vase and a photo frame with a Pierrot Clown on it. there was also a little oil lamp but the glass is broken so can no longer be displayed.

Jayde also got a ceramic cat. I don't remember the origin of the cat but I remember having it all my youth.

Jewel got my little Peter Rabbit cup and a Jewellery box shaped like a Dressing Table. This needed some mending.

Jewel has had my baby doll in her room for many years - but she seldom gets played with. Her eyes are
not as good as they used to be and someone drew all over her mouth.

Jewel also got this gold mesh purse - can't remember where I got this from either - but Jewel loves it (and Jayde eyes it off)

Seth received my Queens Silver Jubilee Mug that was brought back from England by my Uncle Steve. I remember both my brothers got them as well.

I also found some broaches that were in the Jewellery box (shaped like a Dressing Table). I have said these are for sharing and ask my mum where I got these from?

And some old rings of mine from old boyfriends - not sure what to do with them as the initials are wrong for the girls to wear.

  1. I'd forgotten all those items. I left a bottle of eucalyptus oil on your kitchen bench, try a bit of that on a cotton bud to remove the scribble marks from the doll (try it first on her bottom as a test). The gold mesh purse was mine, but I can't remember from whence it came. Silver brooch looks like one I bought in Bali, don't remember the gold one, could have come from Grandma (Yates) and I think the coloured one was from either my Grandma Kerridge or Edwards. The Silver Jubilee Mug could be quite valuable now, especially as the Queen is coming up for another milestone, so tell Seth to treat it with care.xxx
