School Holidays (Summer 2011-12)

Elissa relaxes.....

I have tried to take it easy over these school holidays. No major plans just relaxing around the house, catching up on some cleaning, organisation and sewing (Jewel's Baptismal outfit).

We have had some sleep overs, Jayde had a lot of friends from Curtin for a sleep over, Seth had two different sleep overs with separate friends from school and Jewel had 3 little girlfriends over (they had fun doing cake cooking and decorating).

Jayde also had a lunch with some of the girls from her new school - a chance to get to know everyone a little bit better before the first day of school (at their open day last year they swapped phone numbers). I made pizza's and cinnamon scrolls for the girls as they had a grown up lunch on the patio as we all ate inside.

We have also played lots of board games. Adam received Star Wars Monopoly for his birthday which has had a lot of use. He also received Star Wars Trivial Pursuit - which he won - but at the end there it looked like Jayde might over take him.

We played Cluedo, normal Monopoly, Harry Potter Board Game, Monopoly Deal card game, Ubuild Battleships, Ubuild Monopoly, and Ubuild Mouse trap.

I read lots of books and so did Seth & Jayde. Seth had received the Passage to Zarahemla and escape from Zarahemla for Christmas and after reading he read them we all read them and went back and read some Tennis Shoes books to see how they overlapped.

Jayde did a lot of cooking mainly Macaroon's (testing the cookbook Grandma got her for Christmas) and Meringues. I then did a lot of custard tars with all the left over egg yolks.

The kids watched some TV, mainly DVD's - catching up on some Dr Who. (Unfortunately the antenna for the TV on the main floor isn't working - we thought it was the set top box, then bought a new TV then that didn't work so bought new leads, still didn't work - turns out damage from the storms).

The kids had fun on their slip'n'slide that Jewel bought Seth & Jayde for Christmas. Once by themselves and once with the Garland boys.

We did a clean out of the Toy Room (old toys and kids books) and rather than have a garage sale sold a lot of them on-line. Hopefully the Thomas Train Track will go soon.

Overall a relaxing holiday. Pity I have to go back to work this week.
